Dr. Laura Martin, a clinical psychologist, holds a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from George Mason University. She completed her doctoral residency at UNC School of Medicine and currently works at Children's National Hospital within the Prenatal Pediatric Institute. With a passion for helping individuals navigate the perinatal period, Dr. Martin uses evidence-based practices to provide compassionate care and support to her clients.

Dr. Martin has trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She has specialized training in trauma treatment (Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). She is also a Registered Circle of Security Parenting Facilitator.

Services

Individual therapy offers a supportive space for expectant and new parents to explore their emotional experiences. In our sessions, I will help you navigate the challenges of pregnancy, childbirth, and early parenthood, focusing on your unique feelings and concerns.

Targeted treatment

for more specific clinical concerns such as postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, or PTSD. I use evidence-based treatments to help support you in getting back to feeling like yourself again during this period. These treatments are time-limited.

Couples therapy

to help maintain and strengthen your relationships as you face the unique challenges of the perinatal period. Focuses on enhancing communication, emotional support, and intimacy, fostering a healthier family dynamic.
